IT Support And Maintenance Guides And Troubleshooting Computer Problems

By Floyd Grant

IT support and fixing problems that are computer related is a broad area of expertise. For the home user there are many ways that this line of work assists in bringing about better performance to your home computer or laptop. As time marches on we accumulate many extra files and programs that reside on the hard disk.

Operating systems are shipped with tools in order to fix and solve problems. This is known as troubleshooting in the world of technology. Troubleshooting performance can be executed quite simply if you know how. For one cleaning up your hard drive and then defragmenting helps improve performance and revives your system from working at a sluggish rate to a more faster one.

It is best to create a restore point if you intend trying to tackle these exercises on your own. This saves your computer in a state as it was when you last worked on it. It is a safety precaution to create restore points so that if something goes wrong whilst you are working on it either yourself or a technician is able to recover it at that point when you created the restore point.

If they are spread in far to reach places this takes more time. What defragmenting does is that it compacts the files and rearranges them in a more accessible way. This speeds up search time and hence increases the performance or speed at which you computer works.

One way to do this is to increase the paging file on your computer. This can be done by typing in the words, paging file or virtual memory, in the search section of the help and support feature. Otherwise you can click on computer and then click on properties which will guide you to the paging file option.

This works on almost all operating systems. Another task you can implement in order to increase local memory is by purchasing Ram cards or memory cards to enhance performance. These are slotted into the Central processing unit and make a huge difference on the performance at which your computer operates.

It is little fixes such as these that make using your system that more fun. They can become cumbersome and frustrating with time when overloaded with unnecessary files. Disk clean up is another that is used frequently and rids you of unwanted memory such as files that have made their way to the recycle bin. You can clean up your recycle bin by simply clicking on its icon usually located on the desktop.

This is known as disk cleanup and is another technique or task used when it comes to IT support. It is all very well having a system but with time it does become sluggish. If you are unable to do these tweaks yourself then it is time to call in the technicians who are equipped with a world of knowledge in these matters at their fingertips.
